Why do I want to make games?
Project type
Personal essay
When I was younger, I remember viewing video games as if every one had unlimited possibilities. That if I climbed the tallest tree, there might be a hidden power up there, or if I was fast enough, I could possibly steal the loaner mount I had been given, saving myself tons of money and time. I didn’t think about mechanics or stat stacking, I just thought about how I could interact with the world. As time goes on, I find myself wishing I could go back to that time; when I was full of wanderlust, and thinking of what might possibly be over the next hill.
I want to make games that young me would get lost in. I want to make games where there are small secrets that not everyone will find. I want to make games that reward people for thinking outside the box, and I want to make games where not doing that doesn’t punish you.
